Sporty street style looks are dominating fashion magazines and blogs. Athletic-inspired looks have been all over the runways recently, and now these trends are making their way onto the streets. From baseball caps to letterman jackets and wedge sneakers, it seems like we can’t get enough of the sport-luxe trend at the moment. Take a look at some of these sporty street style outfits.
Most sporty street style looks these days wouldn’t be complete without a cap of some sort. Leather-look caps are by far the most popular choice and are pretty versatile. Fashion blogger Danielle from We Wore What teams a chic black leather cap with a Front Row Shop shell bomber jacket, James Jeans, and nude Steve Madden heels. This is a stylish street-smart look and you could easily trade in the heels for a flat shoe or wedge sneaker.
Another way to add instant sporty appeal to your outfit is by slipping on a pair of sneakers. Beauty model Elle Trowbridge was snapped by Suzanne Middlemass for Glamour Magazine wearing an Urban Outfitters dress, Topshop jacket and rucksack, and Ray-Ban sunglasses. The bright red lipstick adds a touch of colour to a mainly black and white outfit. Try putting together a similar outfit for an urban-inspired weekend look.
Fashion blogger and photographer Zanita Morgan was snapped by Jessie Bush wearing a combination of athletic looking clothes. She teams a sporty tank dress with a varsity jacket, plain black cap, and Alexander Wang golf bag. The sky high Ellery heels add a luxe touch to the entire look, but some canvas trainers would do just as nicely if you’re not into wearing heels.
For a more dressed up affair, try teaming a sporty t-shirt with leather pants and heels. This fashionable young lady was snapped by Phil Oh from Street Peeper wearing her Nike t-shirt, rolled up at the sleeves and tucked into a pair of skinny leather pants. She completes the look with red heels and matching red lipstick. This outfit is a great example of how you can take your sporty look from the streets to the bar.
Show off your sporty street style cred in a letterman jacket. Fashion blogger Mia Knezevic was snapped by Adam Katz Sinding for the Tory Burch blog in this sporty looking outfit. She wears a slouchy grey t-shirt teamed with a letterman jacket, leather pants, and embroidered cowboy boots.
Make like a marathon runner and don a pair of sporty running shorts. Fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni teams a pair of cheeky black American Apparel shorts with a grey Markus Lupfer sweater and a 3.1 Phillip Lim clutch bag. Strappy black heels and a bright blue cap complete her fun sporty look.
Just because it’s athletic doesn’t mean it can’t be ladylike. This stylish lady was spotted during New York Fashion Week sporting a fusion of athletic and ladylike trends. She wears a knee-length white dress with a structured handbag and pointed heels. The addition of a baseball cap and bomber jacket gives her outfit some sporty cool cred.
A pop of colour can instantly take your outfit from zero to hero. Fashion editor Julia Sarr-Jamois was spotted wearing this bright and bold sporty hot pink anorak. She teams it with a basic black outfit, Nike trainers, and colourful red sunglasses. It’s fun outfit that you could easily recreate for a cool and casual look.
These are just a few sporty street style trends we’ve spotted so far. What do you think of the sport-luxe trend? Which of these sporty street style looks do you like best?
